PRANAMAMA
Ayurvedic postpartum care & education to support your longterm health and wellbeing in motherhood
The postpartum period is a time for deep healing, and Ayurveda offers a personalised, holistic approach to help you restore balance—physically, emotionally, and spiritually—so that you can thrive in motherhood while honouring your own well-being.
HI FELLOW MUMMA,
IF YOU ARE HERE BECAUSE YOU ARE PREGNANT OR HAVE RECENTLY ENTERED YOUR SACRED WINDOW, AND YOU CARE ABOUT PRIORITISING YOURS AND YOUR BABY’S WELLBEING IN A NATURAL WAY, YOU ARE IN THE RIGHT PLACE.
I am a health conscious mother, just like you. I have two beautiful boys who are 4 and 6. I am also a qualified Ayurvedic Women’s Health Consultant, Postpartum Doula and devoted student of Yoga. Naturally, I care so much about what I feed my boys, how I raise them emotionally and how secure they feel in themselves.
When I gave birth to my first son, I experienced severe sleep deprivation, constant breastfeeding, depletion, exhaustion, anxiety and overwhelm.
It let me down a path to discovering the importance of postpartum care, learning how the first days and weeks after birth can literally dictate how much energy you have to give as a mother in the years that follow.
I spent so much time practising yoga, eating organic, nutrient dense home-cooked meals and preparing for the actual birth during my first pregnancy, but failed to even consider the impact postpartum would have on my health and wellbeing. There were no professionals to guide me in this pivotal phase of my life. Don’t get me wrong; this way of eating certainly helped but it wasn’t the whole picture.
There is a HUGE emphasis on birth in our culture, but what’s missing is an equal (if not more) emphasis on postpartum. Meeting the needs of mother and baby after birth is ESSENTIAL for longterm health and wellbeing; physically, mentally and emotionally.
In order to successfully prevent common postnatal imbalances such as anxiety and depression, digestive complaints, fatigue, depletion and burn out, we need to prioritise a mother’s wellbeing in her postpartum. It honestly makes the WORLD of difference to her longterm health.
Depletion can be almost invisible at first; the effort required in labour, the sleep deprivation, the unbalanced meals or constant light snacking, 24/7 milk production, even just the MENTAL LOAD of constantly thinking, worrying and trying to understand your baby’s needs… these things build up behind the scenes and cause postnatal anxiety, depression, depletion and exhaustion. This impacts our digestion, hormones, energy, even our ability to experience joy!
If you already have children, adding a toddler’s needs to the mix can be even more demanding. Not to mention showing up as a patient, understanding and loving partner as well. I learned this when my second son was born. Running a household in these early years of parenting requires a LOT of energy.
Postpartum care is essential in order to prevent common postnatal imbalances. I know you don’t want to feel exhausted, depleted, anxious or overwhelmed. So what can you do to look after yourself to prevent this?
Rather than scouring the internet for postpartum meal recipes, I can assure you that it’s actually quite an in-depth science when it comes to postpartum nutrition and depletion prevention.
According to the ancient wisdom of Ayurveda, a mother’s digestive capacity is almost diminished right after giving birth. If not properly rekindled, it can lead to a host of problems. Such as…
Inadequate breastmilk
Breastmilk that is difficult for bub to digest (causing colic, acid reflux, gassiness, pain, allergies, intolerances)
Depletion, exhaustion and fatigue
Anxiety, depression and overwhelm
Feelings of isolation, hopelessness and disconnection
Digestive issues such as constipation, bloating and malabsorption
And much more. Honestly it’s actually wild how much restoring digestive health after giving birth can impact a mother’s longterm health and wellbeing.
That’s where I step in.
I am making it my mission to help women recover PROPERLY after giving birth to set them up for true longterm health and wellness so that you can feel balanced and prepared for motherhood.
Imagine you and bub thriving. Happy. Settled. Zero digestive complaints. Feeling confident that you know exactly how to meet both yours and your baby’s basic needs, so that you can focus on enjoying the love and bonding between you. You feel supported, care for, HELD…
This is completely possible for you!!
And I can help make it happen.
You see, there is in fact an ancient and time-tested protocol for mothers to replenish their energy and stabilise their moods, breastmilk, and nervous systems after giving birth.
Over five thousand years ago a group of texts called the Vedas were established. They outline incredible knowledge about how to live in alignment with the Laws of Nature in order to live a healthy, happy, fulfilling and long life. There is an entire section on postpartum care and children's health.
The primary focus in Ayurveda is supporting a mother’s digestion after giving birth. This in turn will help balance her mood, hormones and breastmilk. It’s an art and an essential first step in postpartum recovery.
The truth is, when digestion is rekindled properly, postpartum is a golden opportunity to completely RESET your health at the root level and REVITALISE your entire being.
From digestion, to hormones, energy levels, skin, allergies, neural pathways, emotional regulation and connection to your Highest Self; these can all be amplified and expanded during this sacred time.
What’s so wonderful is that you will FEEL GOOD doing it!
This also might sound like a lot when you have a newborn in the mix… and here is the wonderful news:
You don’t have to do this alone. I am here to take care of YOU so that you can focus on taking care of your baby and raising your family.
“The first 42 days after birth shape a mother’s health for her next 42 years…” ~ Ayurvedic Proverb
PranaMama Postpartum Care ~
PranaMama is a holistic postpartum rejuvenation program drawing on the wisdom of Ayurveda and Yoga to support your health and wellbeing throughout the sacred window and beyond. I offer both in-home and virtual options.
Both include the online PranaMama Portal which educates you on everything you need to know about preparing for an Ayurvedic postpartum, from recipes to self-care practices, herbal tinctures, yoga, meditation, remedies for common childhood illnesses, how to create a balanced routine that aligns with Nature’s rhythms and more. This wealth of knowledge is compiled in an easy-to-read format with videos and downloads that you can draw on for years to come.
For in-home care, mothers must be located on the Mornington Peninsula or local surrounds. Travel fees may apply for further distances. If you live outside of Melbourne, we can arrange online consultations to ensure you feel guided, supported and held throughout the tender weeks following birth.
I have created this program to support you in a way that I wish I had received when I had my two boys. I have experienced firsthand what happens when we do not prioritise our own wellbeing once we enter the realm of mothering. It can result in feeling depleted, exhausted, unhappy, overly anxious, bloated, constipated and generally flat! Raising children is SO precious; I want you to embrace this incredibly sacred opportunity and flourish throughout motherhood and beyond.
